When thinking about starting a home business you really need to give full attention to the reality of doing this. Let's face it, in life things require balance in order to work out correctly. You need to know there is no "up without a down," no "pro without a con."
Let's look at the real upsides and downsides to starting a home business "realistically."
The Cons:
No Security - meaning, no one's going to carry you if you do badly for a day, week or even a month. You may not make any money for the business for a while. You have no one to accept this responsibility but yourself. You may want to invest in some insurance for the rough periods.
No Pain, no GAIN!!! - meaning, did you ever hear the phrase: "no pain, no gain," well, it's true. Work seems to never end. Even when you are not working, you tend to want to monitor things, and let's face it, you have to have a day off. You'll have to learn how to deal with the emergencies of the day either as they happen or if you deal with it on your day off, handle it quickly so it may be resolved and you can move on the matter of business the next day you work.
Handling Everything - meaning, you are the one who has to handle everything. Things such as management, marketing, advertising, stock control, inventory, deliveries, money and so on and so forth. Here comes the fun part, you as well have to deal with your customers, and suppliers, tax people, and tax issues. Remember, this is reality. You are not going to make a million dollar profit and not deal with all of this.
Interior Decorator - meaning, you have to set aside a space for your home business. The worse thing you can do is have your home business all over the house. You have to classify things, be professional and be able to locate and retrieve information or whatever from your home business in order to make the day flow instead of STOP. Let's not forget, if you don't live alone, the rest of the family needs to respect the area of the home business. You have to also respect the rest of the family and not take someone Else's space without it agreeing with the WHOLE family.
Dreaded LONELINESS!!! - meaning, if no one else is around in the daytime, provided that is the time you are attending to your home business, or if everyone is asleep at night, provided that is the time you attend your home business; it can get lonely sometimes. You'll have to learn how to vent that frustration possibly by deploying it in dealing with your customers wants, needs and concerns. Be there for them because they are there for you buying your service or product.
Now here are The PROS:
INDEPENDENCE!!!!! - meaning, you have it. You can more or less do whatever you want or need anytime you make the decision to do it. You have no one breathing down your neck. There's no dress code, work in your pajamas if you want.
FLEXIBILITY - meaning, you can start or end work whenever you want to. Work the days you want to work! Begin your work day early or end the day early. Stay late as you like or not. Work weekends only, or no weekends at all. Take the afternoons off if you want, because you are the BOSS!!!
MONEY - meaning, keeping all the money, could be an option, you know everything you earn is yours to keep. It's not like when you worked for someone else, they kept the profits at the pain and sweat of you breaking your back to make the money. You are the Boss, you control dividends and taxes.
TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL- meaning, NO MORE COMMUTING!!!!! Hey, you may travel to the front room from the kitchen to deal with something, but it is not like having to drive to work or take public transportation to get to a job. You'll save time, money and your own energy this way. Get this! If you just wake up and get out of bed, you are at work!!!!!!
LIFESTYLE HEALTHIER!!! - meaning, you plan out your day, and you can sit down or go to a nice restaurant and take your time and eat a healthy balanced meal everyday. You don't have to rush because you only have 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour for lunch!!!
BOSS!!! - meaning, that's you. You can take the company up or down. It is all up to you; but look at those rich REWARDS!!!!!!
Now don't the PROS outweigh the CONS????? You do the MATH!!!!!!!
